Tavern owner
The tavern owner is a character who creates a private tavern or campfire by either paying pounds or using pieces of driftwood and is the one responsible for managing their taverns (or campfires). Special cases: The municipal tavern is owned by the town hall and managed by the mayor. The mess on a ship is owned and managed by the ship's captain.
Managing a tavern allows to:
- change the name of the tavern
- change the message displayed in the taverns description
- appoint a bartender, who can manage the guests in the tavern in absence of the tavern owner (the bartender can be exchanged anytime again)
- create up to 2 menus, which tavern guests can eat to sate their hunger
- provide beer for thirsty guests (by using barrels of beer produced in monasteries or by buying mugs of beer via the buying option in the settings)
- transfer food to the taverns inventory or to remove them (not possible in campfires)
- set prices for beer and the menu
- change the tavern's background (requires to add a tavern's background to the tavern's inventory)
- purchase additional seats (requires the possession of a Deck of cards)
- open a Poker table (requires the possession of a Deck of cards, currently deactivated)
- destroy the tavern (Warning: this action is irreversible! Everything in the tavern's inventory is lost!!!)
- view the earnings of the day of the tavern (earnings will be automatically transferred to the owner's inventory at day's end).
- manage guests by using different commands when being inside the tavern
To manage your private tavern or campfire, go to My house > My properties > Tavern / Campfire.
To manage the mess of your ship go to "My house" > My properties > Ship > Mess.
As a mayor you can manage the municipal tavern via Town > Tavern > The Town Hall's tavern.
Note:
- To change the settings of a tavern / campfire / mess the owner has to be present in the town / on the node.
- Earnings to be added to the owner's inventory do not require the owner to be present at the location of the tavern / campfire.
- In case of the character being set aside all owned taverns and campfires will be destroyed.
Commands to manage the guests of the tavern can only be used by the tavern owner and the bartender when inside of the tavern.
The commands are typed into the input field used for chatting. The term 'Login' must be replaced with the name of the visitor's character:
- /kick Login: removes the addressed character from tavern, but after 5 minutes they can re-enter.
- /ban Login: bans the addressed character permanently from tavern.
- /unban Login: allows a banned character to re-enter the tavern again.
- /verre Login: to buy a drink to the specific character. (command disabled and replaced with a button when clicking on a character in the tavern]]
- /verre tous: to buy a drink for everyone present in the tavern. (command disabled and replaced with a button to buy a round of drinks)
It should be noted that there is a reserved seat in the tavern for the bartender behind the counter. The owner can only use if he / she takes the role of the bartender, too.
Each week at Saturday the tavern owner receives the bill for tavern taxes, which amounts to 20 pounds (+10 pounds additionally for each seat purchased). The taxes are paid to the county's coffers. The sheriff can check in the office who has not paid the tavern taxes and can cancel these: either completely or just the penalties for paying the tavern taxes late / not at all. If the sheriff cancels the penalties the debtor has 7 days to pay the taxes before new penalties start to accumulate.
Note:
- The taxes continue to be charged when putting the character into retreat, including penalties for late payment.
- Unpaid tavern taxes and penalties for late payment cannot be avoided by destroying the tavern. The unpaid taxes will continue to accumulate penalties until the taxes are either paid or the sheriff cancels them completely.
Owning a tavern grants 5 Influence points for each tavern, campfire and ship's mess.
