Annates

Annates are a tax that the Bishop must pay when he takes office.
They are:
- a default amount of 500 pounds
- levied on the diocese's treasury
- deposited in the Pope's coffers
Their amount may be reduced by a royal army and increased by a papal army if they control the status quo of the diocese's capital.
If the diocese is insolvent at the time of payment, the annates may instead be paid by the county or duchy.
